RULES AND GUIDELINES FOR THE THIRD INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION FESTIVAL OF YOUNG SINGERS, FLAUTISTS, AND ACCOMPANISTS “SINGING FLUTE” 

The third International Competition Festival “Singing Flute” is held on 23 May through 27 May, 2020.  

Venue: Rachmaninov Concert Hall at the address 6/2 Bolshaya Ordynka St., building 1, Moscow, Russia. 

The award ceremony and the concert of laureates are held in the Concert Hall of the State Budgetary Institution of Additional Education of the city of Moscow “Children's Music School named after Ludwig van Beethoven" at the address 4 – 6 Bolshoi Mogiltsevsky Lane, Moscow.

Aims and Objectives of the Competition Festival: 

Comparing and integrating singing and flute playing as a consolidated performing approach; 

Motivating young singers, accompanists, and teachers for self-development, self-expression, and creativity; 

Popularizing and developing the art of playing the flute, singing, and accompanying; 

Searching for talented performers; 

Assessing accompanying as an independent type of the performing art; 

Compiling statistical data on musical instrument brands used by performers; 

Monitoring the professional competencies of primary music school teachers.

Terms and Conditions: 

The third International Competition Festival “Singing Flute” (hereinafter referred to as the Competition Festival) is held in two rounds. An exception is “The Art of Accompanying” which is held in one round as a live audition. The Competition Festival takes place in the form of distance and live auditions which are held on the web portal “Conservatory Online” and in Rachmaninov Concert Hall at the address 6/2 Bolshaya Ordynka St., building 1, Moscow, Russia. 

 

The award ceremony and the concert of laureates are held in the Concert Hall of the State Budgetary Institution of Additional Education of the city of Moscow “Children's Music School named after Ludwig van Beethoven" at the address 4 – 6 Bolshoi Mogiltsevsky Lane, Moscow. 

Young singers and performers are expected to play classical side blown flutes, piccolo flutes, curved head flutes, except plastic transverse ones, be between 5 and 16 years of age, and study at children’s music schools and art schools (including private music schools) as well as special music schools with specialization in Flute. As an exception, students between 5 and 6 years of age may not represent an educational establishment and may be sent to this competition by their teachers. 

The Festival Nomination “Singing Flute” is open to participants with no age limit. 

Accompanists (pianists, guitarists, bayanists, harpists, and etc.) accompanying singers and flautists up to 16 years of age are eligible to take part in the nomination “The Art of Accompanying”. 

 

Application Procedures: 

All the applications for the Competition Festival as well as distance audition recordings are to be submitted until 13 April, 2020, inclusive. 

The results of the elimination round will be announced no later than 20 April, 2020. 

 

The laureates and diploma winners of the previous Competition Festivals “Singing Flute” are entitled to participate remotely in the first elimination round of the Competition Festival. They should submit the application for participation in the Competition Festival in compliance with the application rules and procedures with the exception that they may send a video recording of their performance. The program of the elimination round may be freely chosen by the participants. Music pieces of the first and second rounds may be repeated by the participants. 

 

Video requirements 

 

Videos must not exceed 100 MB max file size and must be in MP4 or MOV formats. 

The Competition Festival Participants should complete and submit an online application for participation on the festival website
